I Have Fire Damage - Now What?

Fires are stressful events - our owners are no strangers to that since their personal house fire led them to their SERVPRO franchise. Knowing what to do after a fire can seem overwhelming. That's why we are here to help.
First, contact your insurance company and a local disaster relief agency. They can offer assistance if you are displaced or in need of emergency necessities. Try to locate any documents you might need. However, do NOT enter the structure unless the fire department has deemed it safe for you to do so. Safety should be your top priority.
When you call SERVPRO of Benton, Jasper, Newton & Southern Lake Counties we will assess the damage. We follow a specific process when cleaning soot residues from the structure and contents of your home. Even smaller fires, or fires from a neighboring structure, can create smoke and soot residue which can cause damage to the walls, ceilings, and contents. This residue will need to be professionally cleaned and removed so that damage and odor do not worsen over time.
What about all that water that was used to put out the fire? Water leftover from firefighting activities should be removed by a professional. Our technicians are trained in both fire and water damage restoration, using specialized equipment, tools, and products. We can remove the water and properly dry the home so that no further damage, such as mold, is caused by standing water.
