National Learn to Swim Day - Water Safety Inside the Home As Well
5/14/2021 (Permalink)
The 3rd Saturday in May is National Learn to Swim Day - dedicated to educating parents and children about water safety. Before Memorial Day and the start of summer, as pools are starting to open up, this provides an annual opportunity for families to learn the importance and benefits of learning to swim. Water safety and knowledge from an early age are vital in keeping our children safe.
The owners of SERVPRO of Benton, Jasper, Newton & Southern Lake Counties have 3 Varsity swimmers who have been swimming since their first learn to swim lessons and followed up with years of age group swimming before high school. All three are certified lifeguards (or currently in training to be) as well. So we understand and promote the importance of water safety.
Additionally, we promote water safety when it comes to water in your home - and we know that's not the good kind! Many people do not know where to begin when faced with water damage.
After any water damage situation, your primary focus should be safety first:
- Is it safe to stay in the house?
- Electrical and "slip and fall" hazards are some of the most prevalent concerns.
- Only do activities that are safe for you to perform.
- Wet materials can be VERY heavy. Be careful!
